Diamonds, sapphires, rubies, tsavorites – this piece is a first, and the object of a patent application filed by Hublot. It is a fusion of carbon fibre and precious stones. Hublot has taken the Full Carbon concept to its ultimate expression, by successfully setting baguette-cut precious stones in a component – the bezel – made from carbon fibre.

This exclusive process was developed using traditional craft techniques by the Hublot in-house carbon fibre components production unit. It has enabled this release of four 44 mm Big Bangs made from 100% carbon fibre, including the dial; sporty, lightweight and super-strong pieces featuring the scintillating elegance brought by the bezel, also made from carbon fibre, set with 48 baguette-cut precious stones – with a touch of colour also apparent in the indexes of the 3 counters and the Hublot logo. This is all rounded off by a tone-on-tone coloured Horn Back alligator strap with black stitching, offering supreme flexibility and comfort thanks to its natural black rubber inner surface.

Aston Martin has taken its ultimate grand tourer, the Aston Martin Vanquish, and chopped the top off for this latest Volante model from the British marque. The car’s WH architecture mixes bonded aluminum with carbon fiber to maintain rigidity in the absence of a roof. The designers of the Vanquish Volante have opted for a soft top which folds away in just 14 seconds. Powering this beauty is a V12 engine good for 565 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque and capable of pushing the Volante to 187 mph. All this doesn’t come cheap as the Vanquish Volante starts at $297,995 USD.

No longer will we see traversing urbanites with mobile devices huddled over an unsuspecting outlet like it’s the last source of energy on Earth. Or rather, that’s what the very near future holds. New York-based design agency Pensa has teamed with solar company Ground Zero and AT&T to launch 25 self-sufficient, solar-powered charging stations across New York City. Dubbed “Street Charge,” each station employs three solar panels that allows the 10-foot-tall flower-like structure to work remotely anywhere, be it on the sidewalk, in a park or at the pier. The 25 units will run for 90 days on an exclusive contract with AT&T, yet there is no word as to whether they will become permanent after the three months.

A few days ago, Facebook quietly began rolling out special, coffee-stained invites to key people regarding a private press conference to be held on June 20. While the social media giant could be churning up any number of alluring features, functions or advancements, TechCrunch is reporting that sources close to Facebook and Instagram are thinking that a Vine-like video addition may be in the works. While the news isn’t entirely new today, the addition of video functions for the much-loved photo sharing app would make sense. Add to that the fact that video has seen a strong presence with the popularity of Vine, Viddy, Cinegram and Socialcam rapidly on-boarding new users, video on Instagram is seeming like a big possibility. While only time will tell if this rumor pans out to be true, functionality additions and UI updates have already proven that — like it or not — Instagram is rapidly developing beyond its humble and simple photo sharing roots.

“The year I turned 26, I made $49 million, which really pissed me off because it was three shy of $1 million a week.” The opening quote of Martin Scorsese’s latest film, as spoken by Leonardo DiCaprio, catalogs the true story of Jordan Belfort who scammed investors out of nearly $100 million while at Stratton Oakmont brokerage house. Titled The Wolf of Wall Street, the film is based upon Belfort’s best selling memoir which delves into his high profile lifestyle filled with cars, women, yachts, drugs and partying. The trailer is also supported by Kanye West’s newest track “Black Skinhead.” The Wolf of Wall Street, which also stars Jonah Hill, Jon Favreau, Rob Reiner and Kyle Chandler, is expected with a November 15 release date.

While the BMW 3 Series coupe may be riding into the sunset – at least for now – BMW has unveiled a peek of its 4 Series car for the upcoming year. The 4 series has been updated with an elongated body over that of its late predecessor and will come in a variety of options ranging from a four-cylinder turbo diesel coupe to a super fast 435i, capable of zipping from 0 to 62 mph in just about 5.1 seconds. The car will also retain BMW’s sense of modern luxury, harboring a roomy, plush leather interior within its two-door frame. While stateside audiences will have to wait for 2014, it looks like European ‘Bimmer’ enthusiasts will see the vehicle later this year.
